Getting started with Apps

Learn how to create an App and show it in the sidebar of a conversation

Apps are small cards with custom content that you can add to a conversation sidebar. You can use them for things like showing a list of frequently used links, and soon, to pull additional details about a customer from external sources.

We currently support Apps with static content; Apps with dynamic or interactive content are coming soon. Apps with static content are more straightforward, easier, and quicker to create; they also don't require any coding skills since you can create them entirely from within the help desk's dashboard.

How to create an App

  1. Click on Manage, then click on Apps, then Create app.
  2. Enter a name for your App
  3. Click on Add component, select one from the list, enter the component details, and click Done.
  4. Repeat step 3 for every component you want to show in your App. See below for the variables or placeholders available to components.
  5. Click on Save

How to add an App to the sidebar of a conversation

  1. Navigate to a conversation page
  2. In the sidebar, click Add or modify sidebar apps, located at the bottom.
  3. Click the Add button on the Apps you want to show.

Please keep in mind that Apps are mailbox-specific; this means that if you added an App on a conversation associated with the Support mailbox, the app would also be displayed in all conversations associated with the Support mailbox.
