Receiving emails

See an overview of how incoming emails work, and the supported email service providers

Full Help uses third-party dedicated email service providers for receiving emails, this has several advantages over using IMAP or other protocols to fetch emails from a specific mailbox manually; one of them being email parsing and spam filtering.

Those third-party services know how to handle emails the right way, we just consume them through webhooks. Also, if for some reason your help desk instance goes down, most service providers (if not all) will keep trying delivering your emails until a successful response is returned by your help desk, which decreases the chances of customer emails being lost.

Full Help doesn't replace your existing email client. Instead, you just forward all the support emails to the appropriate mailbox internal address. This is how most help desks work today.

Supported email service providers for inbound emails:

  1. Mailgun
  2. Postmark
